Lest We Forget

Dear Friend,

I go into periods of deep thought when Memorial Day rolls around each year. Although I think about this all through the year, it gets more intense. As a former combat soldier, I personally lost too many friends. Additionally, there are so many people I’ve met over the years who have lost family and friends.

A great lady I know, Debbie Lee, lost her son, Marc, in Iraq. He was the first Navy SEAL to be killed there. She coined a saying that I love; “Live your life worthy of their sacrifice.” Boy, that’s a powerful statement!

Every time I reflect, it makes me realize how blessed we are to live in this great country! At this time in our history, so many are really unaware of the massive amount of sacrifice that has protected and preserved our freedom. I’ll tell you from an 'older guy's' perspective... don't take it for granted! Regardless of what might be going on, it's still the greatest place in the world!

As we move through the next couple of days, I want to encourage you to stop, think, and give thanks for the sacrifices that have been made for us by these brave men and women... And their families and friends who were left behind.

With deep gratitude,
